Cinéma Fungi
Cinéma Fungi
Cinéma Fungi is the film section of GFF. It brings together films that look at mushrooms up close, from afar, sideways, or from underneath.
Documentary, fiction, animation, visual experimentation, personal story or field film: the format may vary, as long as the connection with the fungal world is real. Cinema becomes another way of observing, telling and revealing what often grows off-screen.
Call for films
GFF invites filmmakers, artists, documentarians, students, collectives and independent creators to submit works connected to fungi, their environments, their uses, their cultures or the imaginaries they inspire.
Films may be short or medium-length, recent or still little shown. They may come from documentary, fiction, animation, video art, experimentation or a more unclassifiable terrain, as long as they are not afraid of spores.
Submission details, accepted formats, deadlines and technical information are available in the film submission form.
Competition
A selection of films is presented in competition during Cinéma Fungi. Selected works are screened as part of the festival and submitted to a jury.
Prizes and selection criteria are specified with the call for films.
Screenings and encounters
Cinéma Fungi also offers out-of-competition screenings, special sessions and moments of exchange around the films.
Depending on the works presented and the confirmed guests, some screenings may be followed by a discussion with filmmakers, artists, researchers or other people connected to the subject of the film. The idea is simple: watch together, then talk about what has just grown on screen.
